Heiko Merten has been working as a director of photography since completing his studies  of cinematography in Potsdam-Babelsberg (2001- Summa Cum Laudae).

His first two feature films both received recognition:  “Les Affaires Personelles- Ende des Frühlings”, was nominated for the Max Ophüls Award 1999, and the adventure feature film, “Two in a Boat”, was Germany’s entry at the Kinderfilmfest of the Berlin Film Festival 1999. The fantasy thriller “Tears of Kali” brought him international attention in 2004 and he then participated in the 2005 Cinematography Master Class of Academy Award winner Anthony Dod Mantle at the European Film Academy .

Through his varied experiences as a cameraman and cinematographer, spanning the full range of film possibilities, Heiko Merten brings a high quality of capabilities.

Heiko Merten is a member of the German Society of Cinematographers (BVK) and the German
Film Academy (Deutsche Filmakademie).
